A warning light is a starting point
Low-output or check-cell messages may relate to water conditions, flow, the cell, sensors or controls. Record the exact message and equipment model. A salt system still needs appropriate water testing and maintenance; a warning does not automatically mean the cell should be replaced.
Check compatibility before buying parts
Have the provider confirm the model, cell rating and compatible controls. Ask whether the fault has been isolated and whether cleaning, a sensor or a control component could address it. Replacement parts and warranty coverage vary by manufacturer and system.
Ask for an operating handoff
After repair, request an explanation of the settings, indicators and maintenance requirements. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance for handling and cleaning equipment. Do not mix pool chemicals or improvise chemical cleaning procedures.

Does a salt pool still use chlorine?
Yes. A salt chlorination system generates chlorine from dissolved salt. The pool still requires water testing and appropriate maintenance.
